Li-Ion Batteries with project sourcing management

Husqvarna is now looking for an experienced and driven Commodity Manager with focus on the Husqvarna/ BMZ joint production site for battery solutions in Karlstein am Main, Germany. In this manufacturing context you will play a key role within commodity management and project sourcing in relation to development of the next generation batteries within automation, one of the fastest growing technological area within Husqvarna Group.

As Commodity Manager, you are part of a global commodity team responsible for printed circuit boards, electric motors, Li-Ion and lead batteries, wiring, switches and timers. The main responsibilities are to secure quality, delivery, cost effectiveness and sustainability of your commodity for all products and life cycle. In short/mid term you will also take the responsibility for proactively driving and following up the sourcing part of the new development projects of Li-Ion batteries and chargers according to decided processes. You ensure a delivery of the projects on time with agreed quality, cost, and features according to requested volumes and production capacity. Furthermore, you ensure that the component strategy of each commodity is followed and implemented in each project.

Your main accountabilities:

  • Be ultimately responsible for all commercial relationships with suppliers within your commodity on a global scale, secure senior levels of cost, quality, delivery reliability, sustainability, etc.

  • Create a long-term strategy securing your commodities to deliver maximum value and develop a plan for how it will be achieved.

  • Create value through strategic sourcing and cost effective agreement that meets all the requirements for supply. This is achieved through a systematic sourcing methodology and continuous responsibility for the total cost.

  • Furthermore responsible for the negotiation, supplier selection, and the development and maintenance of supplier contracts.

  • Manage relationships with suppliers to improve supplier performance, streamline contract, create better cooperation and integration, and deliver improved results.

  • Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with key suppliers within your commodity in order to reduce costs and eliminate waste.

  • Create and maintain relationships with internal functions in purchasing, such as Advanced / OEM sourcing, Supplier Quality Assurance and R & D. Ensure that the strategy of each commodity communicated to the relevant parts of the purchasing organization and ensure that the strategy and supplier capacity is also adapted to the new development.

  • Create and maintain relationships with internal customers and other parts of the organization to ensure continuous improvement and a satisfactory level of service.

  • Manage demand to optimize life cycle cost.

  • Implement cost-saving measures, budgeting (negotiations and other savings included), an annual price negotiation, and the LCC initiative.

Who you are
Preferably, you have a Master´s degree in electronics and recognized qualifications in Purchasing. Minimum requirements are Bachelor´s degree in business administration and/or in engineering electronics. We believe you have at least 5 years previous experience in purchasing from positions in commodity management of electronic components. Experience from commodity sourcing and/or project sourcing of Li-Ion batteries but also circuit boards, plastics and wiring is an advantage.

To be a suitable candidate for the role, we believe you also have the following:

  • Deep understanding of procurement of allocated commodities; enough to analyze issues related to procurement, recommend solutions and strategies, and implement changes.

  • Excellent knowledge of strategic sourcing and its application in such fact-based negotiations and cross-functional team collaboration.

  • Ability to manage strategic relationships with suppliers, including the creation of relationships, performance, development and integration.

  • Understanding the importance of customer focus and internal stakeholder management including presentation and database application

  • Experience in leadership and change management is an advantage.

  • Good communication skills (oral and written) as well and a good understanding of the importance of external and internal customer service.

  • Ability to define a vision and a strategy for purchasing and assigned commodities.

  • Strong planning skills, be organized, analytical, and a "problem solver".

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Fluent English is required (written and spoken), additional languages such as Swedish or German is an advantage.

You will report to the Director Electrical Commodities. There are no direct reports.

The position is based in Huskvarna, Sweden.
