Researcher – Biorefinery & Energy, Lignin science & Separation processes (2017-16A)
We are seeking a researcher for our lignin science and separation processes section, a section working on separation techniques in relation to pulp mills and lignin-based products, with a focus on carbon fibres and new materials.
Work within the RISE Bio-Economics division means an opportunity to contribute towards the development of a future cyclic bio-economy. We are working in close contact with the industry and research groups all over the world, and together we are generating and refining research results and ideas based primarily on forest raw materials. We offer a stimulating and developing environment with a good sense of comradeship. The place of work is on Drottning Kristinas väg, Stockholm, close to the campus of the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), with both countryside and city just around the corner.
Your primary work task will be to initiate research projects and seek financing from industrial clients and public financiers. The work will also involve the management of the scientific part of the project and, together with the project team, the planning of experiments and analysis of the results with regard to the extraction of lignin, lignin modification, and the spinning of lignin-based fibres. The work will be carried out in the form of projects and this means that communication with other project parties is a vital factor.
You have a doctoral degree and ca. 10 years’ experience of research in an academic and/or industrial environment. You have specialist experience in the fields of lignin chemistry, carbon fibres and/or technical carbon. A knowledge of the thermal properties and analysis of lignin is particularly valuable. Experience of the spinning of lignin and its stabilisation and carbonisation is an additional merit.
Personal qualities are extremely important, and your primary ambition must be to develop your colleagues within the field of lignin chemistry and promote the success of the group. You work independently at the same time as you have a good ability to cooperate and enjoy working with others in a range of different functions. You are able to deal with several tasks in parallel, and you are dynamic and have a great commitment to the scientific challenges of lignin chemistry. You are devoted to working on bio-based solutions towards a sustainable society
The position is a permanent employment, to begin as soon as possible, but the employment may begin with an initial trial period.
Further information can be obtained from the section manager Sverker Danielsson, phone no: 0768-76 73 66, email@example.com.
