We are looking for an IP Intelligence Analyst to provide a valuable service to key internal stakeholders and to play an important role in the development of Husqvarna’s future products. This position will sit in the IP Department, which is part of the Group Technology Office (GTO) under the leadership of the Chief Technology Officer, a member of Group Management (GM). For practical and geographical reasons, you will report to the VP, Head of IP, sitting in Sweden; however, the Director of Group IP Strategy, sitting in the US, will serve as the functional manager accountable for your day-to-day work.
The GTO leads Husqvarna Group’s global innovation and technology agenda for all Divisions. The GTO drives initiatives within Battery, Digitalization, and Sustainability, and your work will be important to support these initiatives and other key areas for the Group.
Core responsibilities for this position will include: (a) monitoring, analyzing, summarizing, and providing recommendations on the IP filings (e.g., patent, design, trademark) of Husqvarna’s core competitors and others; (b) performing IP landscaping and other investigations to identify, e.g., potential roadblocks and infringement risks; and (c) identifying key technology trends via IP and other external developments. This work will involve close study of IP databases, press releases, competitor websites / offerings, scientific articles, exhibitions / fairs, etc. and meaningful interaction with external parties and internal stakeholders, including the IP team and Product Management and Development (PM&D). You will provide regular debriefings and reports on external IP developments and have the opportunity to present your key findings and recommendations to GM and other senior leaders within the Group.
For this position, we seek someone having an undergraduate degree in a relevant science area and solid professional experience working with intellectual property. You must have experience working with IP databases (e.g., Innography, Derwent / Thomson Innovation, PatSnap, CompuMark, TMView). You must be prepared for some travel, both domestic and international (e.g., to Germany and the US), as Husqvarna is a global organization. Further, you must have a high proficiency in spoken and written English.
The successful candidate will be analytical, organized, accurate, and focused. This person will be proficient in distilling IP and other large data sets into clear, useful, and concise summaries and recommendations, and clearly communicating the same to IP, PM&D, and other stakeholders. Further, the successful candidate will be patient and professional in their work and be respectful to their colleagues and of other cultures.
This position will satisfy a long-felt need and meaningfully impact Husqvarna’s IP function, future products, and strategic initiatives.
