The Role:
Due to this continued geographical expansion, Söderberg & Partners is looking to add additional competence to the M&A team in Stockholm. The team currently consists of three people, two with a legal M&A background and one with a corporate finance M&A background.

You will be responsible for project managing smaller M&A transactions and assisting the Head of M&A and the team with sourcing, originating and executing larger projects, with a particular focus on the Netherlands.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will span across the full breadth of an M&A-process – involving tasks such as target screening, preparing valuation materials and offers to targets, overseeing due diligence activities and providing support in negotiations. The Söderberg & Partners M&A team is highly focused on execution and produces very limited amounts of “internal” materials etc.

In addition, you will be working in close proximity to the group management team (CEO/CFO) and there may be an opportunity to get engaged in other business development related projects.

While the role is based in Stockholm, you may be expected to travel on average for one to two days every two weeks.     

Our client is looking for a candidate with a genuine interest for the financial industry and the ambition to work within the M&A sector. You should be team-oriented, have an outgoing personality as well as an analytical mindset. Additionally, a strong work ethic and an ability to manage multiple simultaneous work streams is essential. Transaction experience from the financial services sector would be a merit.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor degree within finance, business or engineering with 2-4 years’ experience from the following:

  • Investment Banking or M&A boutique
  • Corporate Finance or FDD from the Big 4
  • Management Consultancy
  • M&A department from a large cap firm

Furthermore, you must have:

  • Strong academic track record 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (English and Swedish) 
  • Knowledge of Dutch would be considered a strong merit

Working as part of a small team your role will be broad so you will need to demonstrate a great degree of flexibility regarding your tasks.

Söderberg & Partners has two main revenue streams: “Insurance Consulting” (i.e. pensions, life insurance, corporate insurance/property & casualty etc.) which makes up approximately half of revenues. The other half is “Securities & Asset Management” (i.e. non-bank private banking /wealth management for wealthy individuals and asset management related to both private savings and pension assets).
